Press Release Summary: State-of-the-art hardware and software solution for
professional video management is on display at IBC2008

Press Release Body: Amsterdam, The Netherlands (IBC2008) – September 11, 2008 --
Focus Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in media management and
ultra wideband (UWB) wireless technology, will showcase its ProxSys® Media Asset
Management (MAM) solutions at IBC2008 held at the Amsterdam RAI Centre (Booth 9.D41)
from September 12-16. Among ProxSys users, the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences
at Kiel University (IFM-GEOMAR) has implemented ProxSys to reduce the time and cost
of recording and managing video in its research missions.

The ProxSys PX product line solves the key media asset management issues associated
with a file-based workflow. The system enables companies, organizations, and
institutes to more efficiently store, manage, and retrieve their digital content,
including video, graphics, music, and text files.

The Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences at Kiel University (IFM-GEOMAR) is involved
in all areas of modern research in marine sciences, ranging from geology of the
ocean floor to maritime meteorology. Video recording and subsequent editing and
management are important aspects of the institute’s global research work. As part of
their scientific work, the IFM-GEOMAR team uses the modern aquatic robot ROV Kiel
6000 on their research trips to record video at depths of up to 6000 meters.

With its professional-grade server hardware, fast performance, rich metadata
capabilities, and browser interface, ProxSys optimizes and simplifies IFM-GEOMAR
researchers’ daily work, both on research trips and when back at the institute.
Specific advantages include:

– Recorded video material can be viewed onboard the research vessel and analyzed
directly by scientists specializing in different areas.
- The video data recorded by the ROV Kiel 6000 can be digitally archived and managed
with time-code dependent keywords.
- Multiple IFM-GEOMAR employees can view the video simultaneously.
- Data can be fully accessed irrespective of location (land or sea), using the
ProxSys web browser interface which generates a low resolution preview for easy
online access.
- Individual freeze-frame images can be extracted directly from the video material
and saved separately.
- ProxSys offers optimal data security and virtually unlimited memory capacity.

“ProxSys provides IFM-GEOMAR with a scalable system that can also be adapted for
future requirements. With ProxSys, low and high resolution HD and SD video material
can be accessed online anywhere in the world. We are delighted to have gained a
customer such as the Kiel Research Institute and are proud to be playing a role in
their important research missions,” said Norman Schlomka, General Manager of Focus
Enhancements\' European Operations.

“We are happy we found a media asset management system which satisfies all our
requirements and but didn’t break our research budget, because we have a few more
pages to turn with our ROV Kiel 6000 diving robot in the world of marine research
here in Germany and around the world,” said Dr. Friedrich Abegg, scientific leader
of the ROV Kiel 6000 team at IFM-GEOMAR.
